HACKBERRY CREEK TRAIL: March 26th, 2017

Posted by

Ok, Jeeperz, as promised, Hackberry!  And not in August!  We checked with the Ranger station, and with other off roaders and are told we can still access the trail. Read the post below for details and meet up info.

  • When: March 26th 7:30am
  • Meet Up:  Leave for the trail at 8am from the parking lot at Bashas 5310 S Superstition Mountain Dr, Gold Canyon, AZ 85218
  • Technical Stuff: This trail is more technical than most.  You will need good clearance, at least 33 in. tires, a winch and good to have at least one locker, but not required.  Be prepared to winch yourself up the big hill if necessary.  If you have questions, message us please.

We will start near the Oak Flat Campground, head south on the trail, loop around and down the powerline rock garden.  Then back around Chevy Hill and out to the campground.  This will be a full day of fun, only around 12 miles, but fairly technical in a few spots.

The map below is a bit different than the way we will go, but you can see a close rendition of our planned trail.  If you click on the map below you can download the gpx waypoints if you’d like to track it.

We plan to stop at the windmill for lunch, it’s about the only shady spot.  We will bring a grill if anyone wants to cook burgers or hot dogs.  Anyone who wants to potluck it, chime in and we will work it out.

Here’s the video from the last time we did this trail.

Please let us know if you plan to go so we can get a headcount and know who to wait for.  See you out there Jeeperz!
