Thanks to all our new Jeeperz who showed up for this ride!
And special thanks to Joel for helping out with photography!
We didn’t know what to expect of this trail since we couldn’t find much information on it. The FunTreks book rates it as difficult, but it’s a few years old at this point. Given that we get rain some summers and not others, it’s hard to say what it might be. Most of the trail turned out to be fairly easy, a forest road type trail. Then there are the parts where the rain had it’s way with the dirt. That made it much more interesting than expected. It took quite a while to get all 15 rigs through all the obstacles safely.
We didn’t make it to Copperopolis, it was getting too late and didn’t want to be lost in the dark, but we did see Isaac Bradshaw’s gravesite.
If you plan to do this trail, take a map or GPS! You will get lost if you don’t. We nearly did a few time with the map and coordinates. Even the map isn’t clear or perfect, and really hard to read when it’s dark!
We had great weather; 78 degrees and sunny. Nice day for a cookout in a wash.
Thanks to everyone who came out with us, look forward to seeing you all in a couple weeks for Crown King!
