Great day for a run, snow on the ground and a beautiful day in the mountains. Five jeeps, two new friends along for the ride.
As we approached Verde Valley, the cloud cover was glowing over the entire area. Pictures can’t do it justice, it was incredible. Then we dropped down into it, and it was fairly dense fog.
Rising up to Jerome, we had sunshine and a dusting of snow.
As we got further back, it got colder, the snow got really deep and it got slicker as we went. It was an adventure for sure.
Justin made friends with Smiley.
Then we had some winching and pulley fun in the snow. The road was narrower and slicker than it looked, and we started sliding off into the creek.
Snow was over a foot deep in most places, some places much more.
We made the whole trail right to the end, but couldn’t make that last ascent. It was steep, over a foot of snow and a sharp drop off if you slid a bit, so we turned around and headed home knowing that we had made it in all the way 22 miles of the 23.
We all had a great time, even saw a few snowballs fly..
We kept the rubber down and didn’t break anything except a mirror!
See you next time where the pavement ends and the fun begins.
